Love the Broads now has around 80 business partners who help us care for the Broads in many different ways. We are always looking to recruit more business partners so that the scheme can grow and the benefits to the Broads can be felt ever more widely. There is no cost to be involved but there are significant marketing benefits including a website/facebook link, inclusion in social media campaign and much more.

Visit the Broads – for Business
Visit the Broads is the official destination management organisation (DMO) for the Broads National Park. Love the Broads collaborates closely with this important membership organisation which works to benefit tourism businesses and showcase the vast tourism and leisure opportunities in the area. Many Members of Visit the Broads (DMO) are also business supporters of Love the Broads and they and their fantastic customers are helping Love the Broads to keep the Broads special. The Hungry Otter, Salhouse Broad
We are delighted to welcome Helen Williams and the Hungry Otter as one of Love the Broad’s prime business supporters.
The Hungry Otter pop-up café has opened on Salhouse Broad, and sits at the top of a hill overlooking the scenery. On offer is barista coffee, a variety of teas, cakes, cookies, sandwiches and ice creams.
Founder Helen Williams set up the Cafe after 20 years teaching at the local Paston College. Helen said “I am thrilled to have an opportunity to help the Broads remain special now and into the future. My customers visit Salhouse Broad for its fantastic environment, wildlife and leisure and this gives them the opportunity too to put a little back to a place that they love.
A voluntary donation of 10p on the sale of ice creams and cookies is contributed by customers which helps to fund grants for amazing projects on the Broads.

Martham Boats
A beautiful Martham Boats classic Broads cruiser and sailing tuition on half deckers
Martham Boats, founded in 1946, is a family run, traditional, Broads holiday boatyard.
Ideally situated at Martham, close to the stunning Hickling Broad, it offers clients a fantastic range of hire experiences including classic Broads motor cruisers and sailing yachts, day boats, canoes and SUP (stand up paddle boarding). For those wishing to stay on land there are also 3 riverside bungalows overlooking the magical River Thurne.
Martham Boats, in association with The Norfolk Broads School of Sailing, also offer the opportunity to learn to sail under the professional guidance and tuition of RYA Instructors. Tuition sessions are also available on SUP.
For the boat owner, Martham Boatyard can also offer a range of services including restoration, moorings and storage.
Swallowtail Boatyard
Paul, Wendy and Colin Buttifant with a Bure Classic
Swallowtail Boatyard is a renowned Broads family business run by Colin and Wendy Buttifant, son Paul and daughter in law, Sarah. Employing a small team of dedicated craftsmen, as well as having small hire fleet they also deliver the highest quality restoration work and build new craft.
Their traditional boatyard is located at the idyllic location of Womack Water close to the village of Ludham which leads to the river Thurne and is situated in the heart of the Norfolk Broads.
The hire fleet of 4 stunning yachts consists of two Bure Classics, one Barton Classic (a new build introduced into the hire fleet in 2017), and one Womack Classic.
The boatyard builds craft to order of the Bure Classic and Womack Classic yachts and also bespoke building.
Eastwood Whelpton Sailing Holidays
Eastwood Whelpton is a family-run, sailing holiday specialist since 1959, located in the heart Norfolk Broads’ best sailing waters, making this one of the most desirable places in the UK to take a holiday.
Yachts are available for hire and the fleet comprises traditional sailing yachts and modern sailing boats from Upton Yacht Station. Andy and Annie Hamilton, loyal customers of the yard, took over the business in 2015, after Anne, the previous owner, retired after 58 years.
The Norfolk Broads School of Sailing, in association with Eastwood Whelpton, offers a wide range of courses at Upton using the Royal Yachting Association’s National Sailing Scheme. It also has a Caravan & Motor Home site so you could bring your own boat and stay at this idyllic location.
An exciting development is taking place right now and ready for the 2020 season with a new extension to provide wooden mast and spars making facilitiy alongside their yacht restoration work.
Oliver’s Sailing Holidays
Oliver’s Sailing Holidays are a small, family owned, sailing holiday company located at the peaceful and secluded hamlet of Martham Ferry. They overlook stunning National Trust’s wildife reserve of Heigham Holmes which was featured in BBC1 TV series “Secret Britain”. Oliver’s specialise in affordable, high quality boats that are fast, easy to sail, beautifully maintained and equipped with superb handling characteristics. A warm welcome awaits everyone and families love the fantastic sailing experience.
Oliver’s offer their clients the opportunity to make a voluntary donation of £2 which helps Love the Broads to provide grants to enable the Broads to remain special.
