Charities and community groups with a suitable project are invited to apply.
Love the Broads is delighted to have provided a grant to the award-winning RAF Air Radar Museum, Neatishead, to preserve and record current Volunteers’ memories of their service time at this fascinating 1942 built radar operations building which played such a major part in the Cold War.
A cheque for £2,219 was presented by Peter Howe of the Broads Trust to Trustees of the Museum in the Cold War Operations Room.
We look forward to welcoming Members to our next event on Saturday 7th December.
A great itinerary has been designed including a Tour of the Brewery, meeting the team, opportunity to buy those special Christmas gifts and light refreshments. See you all there!
The Two Rivers Artists Festive Fair this year takes place on 16th November at the New Victory Hall, Neatishead. 10am – 3pm.
Once again, this fantastic event offers you the chance to meet Norfolk artists & artisans using traditional skills to make beautiful, unique and individual objects; artefacts and designs which last – the antithesis of the high street throw away. It will be bursting with imagination, inspiration and quality, supporting talented local artists and artisans who genuinely craft their ideas from concept to creation.
There will be fantastic guest artists and artisans to add to an eclectic mix which and the Fair will be supporting the brilliant local Nancy Oldfield Trust (which has also received a Love the Broads’ grant this year). Delicious, homemade, refreshments will be available. See you there!

Thank you to Broadland Cycle Hire and its fantastic customers for their donation of £400 to help us with our work to keep the Broads special.
We wish Peter Kiernan every success in taking over this amazing cycle hire business and Peter Howe, former owner and loyal and hardworking Trustee of the Broads Trust/Love the Broads, a wonderful “retirement” but we will be keeping him very busy.
Thurne Mill
Everyone’s invited to the launch of the Capturing Memories event being held at Thurne Mill from 2-4pm on Sunday 1st September. This induction and reception will showcase this amazing project which has been funded by Love the Broads and Water, Mills & Marshes. Attendance is free but donations are welcome.

A grant cheque for more than £5,000 has been presented to four amazing projects which will help wildlife, an iconic building, the visitor experience and people’s wellbeing in the Broads National Park. Businesses, Members and grant beneficiaries attended the presentation which was held at the Nancy Oldfield HQ at Neatishead on a very sunny and warm day. The grant beneficiaries are:
Suffolk Otter Group – £822 – surveying of the otter population at three Suffolk Wildlife Trust Nature Reserves in the Lower Waveney
Norfolk Wildlife Trust – £2,125 – for an interpretation board on Heron’s Carr boardwalk overlooking Barton Broad (part of Tipping the Balance)
Friends of Thurne Mill – £2,034 – capturing memories of the past of this iconic Mill through digital and pictorial documents to be available online and through libraries and Mill archives
Nancy Oldfield Trust – £500 – to purchase presentation equipment to raise additional funds for free boating activities for people who are in palliative care or who have received diagnosis of a terminal illness. This project was exclusively supported by Norfolk Broads Direct.

A huge thank you to Burnt Fen Alpacas and your fabulous customers for your kind donation of £125 from your guided alpacas walks in the Broads.
These award-winning pubs, which offer a warm welcome to visitors and locals alike, are donating 10p from the sale of their fantastic Love the Broads lager to help the Broads remain special. The lager is so popular that £200 has been raised so far. Cheers and thanks to everyone.

Love the Broads has had an amazing party to celebrate its 10th anniversary. 90 guests were welcomed aboard the Queen of the Broads by the Broads Trust Trustees. They were they able to hear all about the great work that businesses and members were supporting whilst cruising on the fabulous Broads from Wroxham to Horning and back, calling in at Wroxham and Salhouse Broads. Thank you to all of those businesses who kindly donated their services and without whom we would not have had such a special event – Broads Tours (Queen of the Broads) and Bijou Wine Bar at Hoveton (celebratory bubbles) – and to the many businesses that donated fantastic raffle prizes which helped to raise more funding for our work to keep the Broads special

This newly printed booklet shows a selection of recommended cycle trails around the Northern and Southern Broads. The network comprises 16 circular routes from 10-25 miles with interlinking connections. Including places to visit and to stop for refreshments along the way.
Our grateful thanks to Archant and Richardson’s Family Holidays who have produced, published and sponsored this fantastic booklet – a must-have for all lovers of cycling. Available for a suggested donation of just £3 from Tourist Information Centres and tourism businesses. All donations will be used to help to keep the Broads special for the future.
You can download all of the maps on the following site for free but if you enjoy these rides, a small donation to the Broads Trust can help fund projects to ensure that the Broads are kept just the way they should be for the benefit of local communities and visitors alike. A donation of £2 per download would help us keep the Broads special. The Broads Trust is an independent registered charity. Each year funds will go towards improving access and interpretation, conservation, and education for the next generations and caring for our rich biodiversity.

What is sustainable tourism?
Sustainable tourism is all about making the lowest possible impact on the environment and local culture while helping to generate income and employment. It is responsible tourism that is both ecologically and culturally sensitive. It is about caring for the places we love to visit and protecting them for future generations. There is no point in having a beautiful landscape if it is spoilt by insensitive tourism. Love the Broads seeks to promote the protection and understanding of our wetland area’s wildlife, landscape, heritage and tourism which are all interlinked.
